I’m often asked how I determine the shipping rates for my hats. Let’s be honest—shipping can be expensive, and here’s why.
As a small business owner, I understand the importance of keeping costs down, so I did extensive research to find the most affordable and reliable shipping option. After comparing services, I found that USPS offers more competitive rates than UPS or FedEx for my business.
To better understand how shipping costs are calculated, I spoke with representatives from the post office. Here’s what I learned:
Since I ship from California, the cost is determined by three main factors—the size of the box, the weight of the package, and the distance it travels. I typically pack each hat in a 16x16x8 box, though I may use a larger box for wider brims. Many people are surprised to learn that the distance the package travels significantly affects the cost. Additionally, if you’re ordering through the website, state taxes may be applied to the total.
I take pride in ensuring that each hat is securely packaged to reach you safely, and I appreciate your understanding of the shipping process and its associated costs.
At Ugly Outlaw Hats, I take great care in packaging your hat to ensure it arrives safely.
Each hat is carefully packed in a strong, secure box, with hand-cut components designed to keep it stable during transit. Once the package leaves my shop, it is unfortunately beyond my control and responsibility.
While I sincerely hope that every Ugly Outlaw Hat reaches its destination without issue, I understand that, on rare occasions, packages may be lost, stolen, or damaged. In such cases, I am happy to assist by verifying the tracking information and checking the delivery status. However, I am unable to offer refunds for issues arising from the postal service or other third parties involved in the shipping process.
Thank you for your understanding—I genuinely appreciate your support and trust in Ugly Outlaw Hats.
Oh, FYI, the hat inside the box pictured arrived intact and in good shape!
